Rappertunie
Rappertunie is Special Edition added harmonica player in the Jedi
Rocks sequence in Jabba's palace. He actually appears in a
number of shots, including a few closeups. He's shown here with
the actual puppet, on display at the Smithsonian.
Rappertunie was sculpted from scratch using Nickelodeon Tangle pieces
to provide the joints of the arms and neck. That stuff is hard, and
I actually had to take a hack saw to them to get the lengths I wanted.
I found that this basic skeleton I built here was too long, and in
mid-sculpt sawed him into three pieces to shorten his torso. His head
was resculpted as well, after seeing that the "Art of Return of the Jedi"
version differed from the final version.

The structure of his limbs were made from paperclips. He actually
has paperclip armatures right up to the first knuckle of each
of his fingers and toes.

The harmonica is sculpted over a paperclip structure, and his base
is part of a Deluxe Probe Droid. I filled in the gaps, and sculpted
the bulbs, and plug in unit. The cord is from the venom cord of
a BTAS Bane (the one that became Lobo :)

Swoop Rider
I created the Swoop Rider from the Special Edition for the ToyFare
Star Wars contest, but didn't turn it in. He isn't all that exciting.
He was created from a Shadows of the Empire Swoop Rider, with new details
sculpted on with Pro-Mat. I used the design from The Art of Star
Wars as a reference.
Jabba the Hutt
I wanted a Return of the Jedi Jabba, but the new line of Star Wars yielded
only the Special Edition version. When it went on clearance, I picked it up
to turn it into the Jabba we all know and love. I was aiming to get him at
his worst, with that slimey grin, and eyes half-closed in self satisfaction.
Jabba used the Special Edition as a base, but was almost entirely covered
in clay and resculpted. I used Premo for the fine details, and Magic Sculp
for bulking up the figure. His eyes and mucus were covered with Gloss-Cote,
while the rest of him was covered with Dull-Cote.
