Baldwyn's The Dark Knight Returns Customs
This figure is still a work in progress.
Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns graphic novel is my all time favorite
comic book work. Naturally then, it makes a prime subject for customs.
I plan on including other characters from the series, such as Robin,
Superman, Anti-Superman Batman, but of course I need to finish this one
first. One of the hardest parts of doing a Frank Miller Batman is deciding
how he should look, because he differs radically throughout the comic book.
I strived to capture the look of him at his best: the end of Batman Triumphant,
and his pose is based on the frame where he has defeated the Mutant Leader.
His head is partially based on the art through out this chapter, as well
as the new art in the 10th anniversary edition. Batman comes with eight
points of articulation (neck, shoulders, wrists, waist, and legs).
The sculpt is incomplete, needing a fair amount of cleanup work, fins
on the gloves, and the rest of the utility belt on the back, but should
be done before Y2K. Full completion, however, is up in the air, since
I plan on making a few casts of the figure to play around with different
looks and poses.
